UPDATE: Thanks for all the input here. Decided to take a chance and go with Netflix!

——————————————————————————

Having some trouble deciding on an opportunity and would love some thoughts from this forum!

Currently work at Adobe - TC 320

Recently got a job offer from Netflix - TC 350

From a comp perspective they are fairly similar and in the long run Adobe may win out given recent stock performance. Netflix is also cash only, which in paper sounds good but less opportunity to gain based off company performance.

From a job perspective Netflix would be a lateral move, but would be faster paced, likely more personal growth, and on a new and interesting part of the business. But at the same time I still enjoy the product I work on at Adobe and the work life balance.

In terms of market Adobe is the leader in their space vs not sure if Netflix's glory days are behind it or not given the recent competition that has come into their landsacpe.

  • If you're a software engineer, you're getting lowballed by Netflix

Netflix is quick to fire if you are not meeting the bar. 30K isn't worth it IMO.

Correct me if I’m wrong. I suppose you’re getting a senior swe role at Netflix. Based of what I’ve seen, their TC is around 450+ or over. You might be getting lowballed with 350. Just a thought but I might be wrong

  • i’d probably stay with adobe, idk. a move like that comes with risk, especially since you’re going to be working harder, and you should be rewarded for it. <10% doesn’t seem worth if you’re satisfied with your work at adobe
