Delete random LinkedIn requests to connect?

A pet peeve of mine is when random people send requests to connect on LinkedIn without any personalized greeting. I usually accept their request to connect and then message them to find out why they added me, and what they wanted to accomplish. I usually get radio silence and I end up deleting them. Other times, I just do not accept the request to connect and report that I do not know the person. I feel relationships these days are being commoditized on social media. I have asked LinkedIn numerous times to include a feature where people can only send a request to add you if they have a personalized greeting in the message, but all to no avail. What would you do?

The worst scenario for me is when LinkedIn puts me in the situation of having to accept/reject an invite from somebody I know, like a friend from high school with whom you would party but never recommend to work with.

I donโ€™t accept any invitation from someone I donโ€™t know. A few invitations from recruiters I accepted from might have resulted in some spam (not hiring related) and also unknowingly registering my profile at some random recruiting websites. I think there are a lot of fake recruiters out there who send out requests to use your email to sell to other advertising companies.

I forgot to add that as a rule, I never accept LinkedIn requests from recruiters. They will just use you to get to your connections, or as you have rightfully stated, spam your email address. I also never reveal my email address even to my 1stยฐ connections

I accept I figure if I ever need a job I can spam them all

If you accept, they get your email and then they nag you forever about dumb jobs

I usually just ignore the random requests without personalized greeting. But lately, even the ones with personalized messages have been off putting. One recruiter added me with the message "I'm sure you're not lame enough to pass up on this great opportunity I have for you". The fuck? Another one was from someone I'd never met that went something like "hey I'm going to land a job at LinkedIn, can you tell me how to prepare and what to expect". ?? If you're so confident that you're going to pass the interview, why are you asking me for tips? And who the fuck are you?
