I come in with a Masters and 3 year experience (not consulting) but in Data analytics and software development. Got the job as a New Hire directly out of my Masters in New York City. 68,000 base with that experience and a masters really makes me feel underpaid. Is this the case with every Big 4? Should I stay or look for a better opportunity?
That's super low but I'm at EY and there was an amazing PhD who was getting paid the same. They only look at ranks and not what you're bringing. You're being hired as the Jr most role. Talk to someone to get into a Sr role to apply as an experience hire since you have 3 yoe. Otherwise just look into tech. Don't waste your time in consulting.
tried my best to navigate within the firm and see what makes me count as an experienced hire, but the support doesn't seem to be solid.
68k thats a joke get a real job in data science .. i get paid 3x of u and i have a a masters and 3 yrs ... get a job in tech deloitte is a shit hole
That is too low. Especially after MS. I made 70 out of undergrad. My recommendation would be to leave. Not worth it to try and make things work.
I know most people are saying to leave and they might be right. The salary is quite low. But before you decide to leave, look at the current options you have. If you like the job and the people, see if you can negotiate a higher salary. Start applying for other places that is within your desired salary range. When you do get an offer, present that to your management and see if they can match it
everyone within the firm seem to be pointing out that negotiations happen only during year end performance reviews.
Christ that is low
3 years experience, undergrad degree only, 90k base
What is your undergrad on?
IS
Can we survive with 68k in NewYork, that’s ways below city’s average?
No prior yoe, undergrad 59k + 5k sign on. Not surprised with your salary based on what I've seen from other college hire offers.
You were taken advantage of. This really sucks and also happened to me when I joined Deloitte. I left for Accenture for 30% raise.
did you wait for the year end or immediately left?
I left immediately, granted I had been there for a year and a half. They tried to give me a retention bonus to stay and promised promo to the next level. All smoke. Just numbers wise, went from ~90k to ~120k. So if you find something better, you should def take it. I’m happy to also refer you to Accenture.
I’m in consulting but on an advisory project and yes that definitely sounds low. I came in as a campus hire from undergrad with $66k and after 1 year am at $76k
I assume that salary is for the consulting sector?
