Deloitte signing bonus repayment

Mar 29 82 Comments

Been @Deloitte 7 months. Thinking of leaving but need to understand signing bonus repayment. If I leave in 1 year I pay 50%. How does it work? Is it taken from my last check? #consulting

Why are you leaving? What department are you in. Is Deloitte a stay away company right now?

Legally once an employer has given you a signing bonus, or any other payment, they cannot legally demand it back. I work in management and we have encountered this numerous times before. Employers have it in their offer later and may even ask for it when you leave as a ploy to prevent you from leaving but you do not legally owe it back to them.

But depending on the size of the bonus it’s honestly not worth the’s employers time to hire a lawyer and sue over a few thousand dollars.

    • I paid mine back and that’s that. Big4 was a good place to gauge my value add in tech and build my confidence but tbh it’s a bunch of shitty people (management) eating their own shit while new comers get crapped on. I was doing the work of a whole team and realized shit I’m being underpaid aha … see ya
