We are planning to have kids in next 1-2 years Our preference : Outdoor activities Weather(4 seasons and doesnt get too cold or too hot) Tech job opportunities for future Buy house in the future(1-2 years) Offer TC : 171K + 25K (Stocks per year) Yoe : 5 Current TC : 131K Is my TC low for moving to Denver ? I do have few other options ,but removed them from my list : Atlanta, GA (HCOL) Phoenix, AZ(Too hot in summer) Dallas,TX (too hot in summer) NYC (HCOL) Please provide your suggestions and let me know if you need more information #tech #Denver #raleigh
Atlanta is not HCOL. It is also cheaper than Denver.
Ohh, Thanks. Did not know about it. Will research more on it
Seems like u didn’t do any research
Raleigh is super up and coming, if it’s not already here
Voted for Denver, really loved the vibe and felt safe there when I visited twice each around one week duration. I lived in Raleigh area for almost 2 years, I think it will be cheap to live there but kinda boring, other than that it is nice, calm and clean suburban ish
you are wrong Atlanta isn’t expensive comparing with Denver or Raleigh and much more urban
How are the job opportunities in Atlanta region? Compared to Denver/Raleigh
MSFT has a second headquarter in Atlanta as well as some other mid-size tech, Airbnb/sq, etc. I think it is the same tier as Denver/Raleigh. If you are Asian, Atlanta's Asian market is the second-best on the eastern coast, just behind NYC.
Denver and Raleigh are quite different culturally, visit both and see where you feel like you fit in. Neither have great tech opportunities relative to the real tech hubs, but tech jobs do exist.
Looks like Raleigh,NC is a clear winner 🏆
Good luck! 🍀 NC and the Raleigh area in particular are beautiful, you won’t regret moving there!
OP, did you decide on Raleigh and have you moved? Considering the same move in the next 1-2 years as I currently have a remote job and want to experience something different.
Hate to break it to you goldilocks, but Raleigh gets really hot and Denver gets really cold (and also hot, sometimes in the same day)
Thanks , But I am pretty sure it doesn't get as cold as Minnesota!
Raleigh doesn't get "really" hot
