looking for a place to move to for a fully remote job. Considered NC and TX but Denver and Seattle come to my final list. Denver has good outdoor place, especially ski mountains Seattle similar and with 0 income tax, but costs of housing is crazy. Can anyone share experience? currently in northern VA,
Denver probably, from a WA resident
why, no income tax saved a ot
Colorado income tax is 4.6% flat and I don’t see a reason that’ll not cover the increased property prices and taxes.
expesiclely
fixed
Same here, asked in Blind about Seattle and Denver. If you can remote, you can buy house 1h away from Seattle, price is not that bad. Which area in Denver you are considering?
boulder, really expensive
Boulder is not Denver
Cost of living is almost as bad in seattle as california. I would pick bay area 😂
Denver real estate is super overvalued right now, compared to Seattle where there actually are lots of high wage earners. Homeless problems and poor governance as well, though I don’t know how that compares to Seattle
Gotta live in the burbs everywhere now. All downtowns have homeless and crime issues
which one is better for family
Why did you rule out NC? Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte are very good cities to settle. You can also consider PA (Harrisburg and neighboring cities). PA is a great place to settle as well due to a low tax base. You can also consider South NJ but your taxes will go up. South Jersey has cheaper housing and excellent education. NJ ranks highest in the country for K-12 education. Princeton university is in NJ. There are also plenty of high paying jobs in South NJ/ PA as well. Denver is better than Seattle on most key metrics (affordability, weather, activities to do, friendlier people). Seattle is better than Denver for tech jobs.
not many friends live in NC, I heard some good of NC, but lack of friend and no ski resort is the reason, maybe good to go and see?
I have lived in both places and would choose Denver or, even better, Colorado Springs. The cost of living is lower and crime in Seattle is getting to be a real problem.
would it be a problem to airport if live in colorado springs?
Crime isn’t a problem in Seattle suburbs yet, Eastside is doing well.
If you're middle class then denver , if you're super rich , then Seattle.
Just moved here from DC and honestly Denver is kind of a fucking dump
Lol yes it is. Also air quality this year has been the worst in the _world_ Totally undeserving of the COVID real estate run up But hey, if you’re single and into outdoor stuff, great place to meet women
are you still in Denver? I’m considering moving from dc as well. Do you regret moving?
Seattle s cost of living is pretty high compared to Denver
