I've been strongly considering moving to Austin. What are some of the best places to work as a product designer? I'm particularly interested in startups.
IBM has a huge design team there
IBM
I've been hesitant to consider IBM because I ultimately want to work for a faster paced, more agile company. What is the design culture like there?
Another question - from my research on Glassdoor, salaries tend to be lower. Would it be unlikely for a company to match my Microsoft compensation? (Thanks for all the answers so far.)
Have few friends working at IBM design. From what I hear it's fast paced and unlike the rest of the company. Also an Austin $ can go way further than a Seattle $.

Atlassian, Indeed, Bazaarvoice, Athena Health, and Civitas are all in Austin. There’s not a ton of product design work with the amount of agency work there but there are some and it seems to be growing.
What do designers work on in the Atlassian Austin office? Was interested but they weren’t hiring.

Facebook has an Austin office
Woah didn't know Facebook was a startup 😑
So do Google and Apple, and these would normally be considerations, but from what I've seen none of them hire designers in the Austin location.
