Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
What to expect? Did initial phone screen, doing on site next week, but don’t know if I’ll be coding or what, and recruiter was vague.
There is no devops engineer in amazon. Its either systems development engineer or support engineer. If its sysdev, the interview is very team specific - networking, tools development, build and release, linux internals, scripting etc. Cant predict. If its support, the interview will be basic programming questions and troubeshooting. Dont join if the role is support engineer. You will be under paid and used as a human shield for operational shitstorm
Not what I applied to, but what about this posting: https://amazon.jobs/en/jobs/703594/devops-engineer Does that just fall more into systems development engineer?
This is support engineer. They just slapped the fancy "devops" in the external title.
Nice before they use you for a human sacrifice lol 😂 don’t say no one warned you !
What exactly is expected of this DevOps/Support Engineer role? Heavy On Calls? Frontline support? Code debugging? System enhancements?
System enhancements - sort of embedded into a sprint work feature team
Just curious how was the onsite? what are the areas they asked questions on? I i am trying for this position right now https://amazon.jobs/en/jobs/1107436/devops-engineer. Any suggestions where to focus for the virtual onsite preparation?
How was the phone screen
It was mostly conversational: why I was interested, about projects I’d worked on, which is why I have no idea how to levelset for on-site prep. The guy was really nice, I just don’t know whether I should be prepping LC hards or reading up on Linux internals
Pm please
