Hey all, I'm trying to get a sense of what percentage of engineers at different organizations fall under the (loosely defined) DevOps/SRE/Infra/SysAdmin/Internal Tools/Security/etc. Don't want to fight about the strict definition of "DevOps", but basically the folks that are full time operational/force multiplier as opposed to writing customer facing features or QA. I'm trying to get a benchmark on how much other companies invest in roles that don't directly create shippable external features. I'm excluding Corp IT to focus just on engineering, but if that's relevant to your situation then you do you. I'd like to know 3 things: 1. Total number of engineers (it's ok if it's one department within a larger corp) 2. Percentage that fit "DevOps" (or similar) 3. Are you under/overstaffed/just right I'll start: Total Engineers: ~50 DevOps: 8% Assessment: Seems about right
