API access for OpenAI - GPT-3

How would one go about getting access to OpenAI GPT-3 API to work on building a startup within NLP/Machine Translation space? Everyone I know who had applied for beta access didn’t get a reply.

Is submitting a good application with a strong idea enough?

Or does it take knowing someone and using that connection to help you get approved for access?

Would love a referral or tips on how I can get access (aside from going the academic application route) 😎
