Where does Bloomberg make most of its money? I have an interview with them coming up and trying to gauge the job security at Bloomberg during tough times. At my current company, pandemic didn't effect us at all. Current TC : 92k
We haven’t laid off any engineers ever afaik. We hired a lot during the pandemic and still are but seeing a lot of attrition with people exiting to FAANG and unicorns for the RSUs.
Bloomberg has a monopoly on financial data. It’s the life blood Wall Street.
Nope we good
Nope. And even when we shut down different peoduct lines, which has happened in the past, they reassigned engineers elsewhere in the company. They never layoff engineers. They know how expensive it's to hire trained ans good engineers. On top of that there's always open positions somewhere in the company. If you want a job for life and are not a jerk or do something illegal, you have a job for life. Just don't be super lazy.
In addition to what @peetapiper said, Bloomberg is so nice that when people do get to that point that they need to be managed out, they give a lot of opportunities to improve first. When companies like Amazon, Salesforce, Uber where pip'ing or laying off people during the pandemic, Bloomberg didn't lay off poor performers for a year +, as the pandemic was bad enough and didn't want to add to anxiety and uncertainty people faced, especially given the health insurance being tied as it is to employer in America. Only recently few bad apples were let go. Wanted to highlight that we do manage performance, it's just that you can easily get by with minimal work, that's what @peetapiper means by "don't be super lazy".
Never ever. Bloomberg always hires, regardless of economy state and pandemics. It is almost as secure as government job
No, infact we doubled down on hiring and stayed hiring throughout all levels during the pandemic.
I haven’t see mass layoff in last 11 yrs.
Bloomberg makes its money through the terminal. It's a must have on Wall Street. If you work on that part of the business you're as safe as can be.
