Did you miss anything moving away from Bay area to Los Angeles?

If you were a senior software developer (not front end) working in bay area and moved to LA, how bad was your TC cut and how improved is your lifestyle? #leetcode

Snap pays the same regardless US location. LA is more fun and diverse.

I hear that part of your brain shuts down and no one in LA 🦇 an eye.

Depends on which company you join

Lifestyle is better because family is here and actual work is really cool. Although I'm reasonably happy with comp (stayed flat on paper) it would definitely be better to be in the bay.

How long ago did u start working at spacex and would you say, rasing a family is better in Bay since TC would be higher here. Does spacex have a location in Bay area too? For someone single, do you think LA has more fun things to do

SpaceX qadwed Feb 20, 2020

Kids' grandparents are all here, so that's a huge factor. SpaceX engineering is mostly Los Angeles and Seattle. Seattle is mostly satellites and rocket stuff is done in LA I think if you're single looking for fun things to do LA is probably better than the Bay, but you should really be looking at NYC. Best of both worlds: comp and life

I left SF for LA in 2016 and it was the best decision I've ever made. There is so much more in LA - everything in the world is here. It's almost unfair to compare the two. SF feels like a tiny college town by comparison.

Rilly? LA *maybe* has more options if you drive in traffic for an hour to get there. SF has almost the exact same range of stuff within a 15 minute bike ride in any direction - and in many cases (food, culture) much better options.

I miss the homeless people that were sometimes taking a dump in broad daylight right outside my place of work. Look I’m no Trump fan, but I just feel that the politics in LA is led by common sense, not Silicon Valley $$$
