The race is on as ride sharing is shifting to autonomy. Which company is in the best position to win? https://www.reuters.com/article/us-autoshow-beijing-didi/china-ride-hailing-giant-didi-eyes-purpose-built-fleet-as-auto-market-shifts-idUSKBN1HV05Z
None of them are even close to having a viable autonomous vehicle. I swear to god this tech bubble is creating pure fantasy.
I'm sure you know much more than ppl working at Uber ATG or Waymo
Who would you say is the closest of the various companies?
Waymo already has a pilot fleet with level 5 autonomy. They are light years ahead of everyone else. I think Tesla has a chance as well. Having cars already on the road is a pretty big advantage.
L5 means the car can drive itself under all circumstances that a human can, with no exceptions. The entire industry is far off from that.
Waymo claims level 4 and we still need to see how well it can perform.
Didi, not because of tech, but because of regulation.
Chinese will always lose
Didi in China and South America. Uber and Lyft split in North America. Uber wins Europe. Local African startups win Africa. Grab south east Asia. Uber wins Australia.
There’s zero chance Didi wins in South America (or Mexico). Uber will take north and South America, India, Africa, Europe, Middle East and Oceania. Grab takes Southeast Asia. And Didi takes China. Yandex takes russia. Go-Jek, Lyft, 99 and Taxify remain secondary players. Only Kareem and Ola will be acquired.
Why - they already bought 99. They can buy others. Why is there zero chance?
