Got approved by the hiring committee, and recruiter told me I was recommended for SETI track not SWE. This is for a new grad role. What are the biggest differences in terms of work, career growth, mobility, pay bands, etc.? Is SETI worse (or better) than SWE in any way? Thanks!
How tough are SETI interviews compared to SWE?
It’s one set of interviews, but you get considered for both SWE and SETI at the same time
I've been told they are separate tracks. When I didn't pass the SWE interview I was able to apply for SETI and start interviews right away without waiting 1 year.
You couldn't clear swe interviews? 😅
Would SETI be mentioned in offer letter, how about for Manager?
Only take it if no SWE from other faangs or you like seti over swe
I have a SWE offer from FB, debating between these two
SWE from FB over SETI from Google no hesitation.

SETI at Google is probably better than SWE in many other companies, however within SWE and SETI withing Google, I'd try to go to SWE. Swe work on actual public facing products, so the bar is sometime higher. SETI work on the tools SWE use to make their product. I've heard a lot of SETI attempting the switch to SWE, but not many the other way around. In any cases, congrats, both are great new grad opportunities
thanks! is there any difference in pay? or ability to be promoted?
Im joining Google as SWE in Eng Prod, which is internal facing. My team has SETI and Test Engineers. How would you say SWE differentiates from the other two?
