What is the difference in responsibilities between seniors and SDE II in Uber Amsterdam. Also what is the TC packages ranges between the two levels. Thanks in advance!
Thanks guys that is a a relief to know :) .. i heard uber tend to downgrade the level compared to other companies. My offer is for L4 alittle bit more on the base salary you mentioned since i have got some experience but the rest is quite the same. Seems i will go for it

I work at Uber Amsterdam, Eng2. From a hiring perspective: Sr: aces coding, has applied distributed architecture experience (aka can build systems that scales to millions) and a generally nice person, usually with 8+ years experience under their belt. Quite a rare hire. Eng2: aces coding, has some distributed systems experience and usually 4+ years experience. And a really nice + energetic person. Expectations will be different when it comes to perf. Responsibilities are what you take on. We’re owners here. I lead projects and 🚢 super impactful stuff, end to end. TC for Eng2 is somewhere around EUR 95-100K (75K base, 9K bonus, 15K/yr RSU at current valuation or about 1,800 total - which IMO is undervalued by 2x till we get to IPO soon). This is what it used to be and I assume still the case. This is what most other Amsterdam companies pay seniors. For startups, it’s above (especially that stock in AMS startups is super rare - even when they’re massively valued or advertise how they’ve raised tens of millions) Sr probably higher. Most seniors from outside usually come from Google/Amazon/FB L5 or some other place where you build things at scale. Plus the usual perks at Uber: breakfast, lunch, €3K/yr Uber credits, €800 in gym reimbursement, $50/mo phone allowance, health insurance up to €200/mo, travel allowance etc. Source: had offers from Adyen, Booking, Catawiki & eBay back in the day. Uber won out by a mile both for comp and professional environment. Despite the fact that I would have gotten senior titles at other places and Eng2 here (Sr at Adyen/Booking/eBay, Lead at Cata). Best decision so far that I joined here. Also, I got lucky and joined right before the 409a went up & my refreshers were also at the lower valuation so got more stocks than if I waited another few months - with the IPO coming, now is probably the best time to score RSUs with high upside. So, spill the beans. What’s your TC and what offer did you get, if any?
I was L5 at Amazon before, joined Uber at L4 lol. Uber’s L5 is more Google’s L5 than Amazon’s from what I saw. Culture, work & total pay is a lot better here though.
May I know more about your Adyen offer? I am about to get one and I would like to know what it looks like.
