I just has my compensation review, and went from 49k, to 50k. This was really discouraging as Ive been with the company for 2+ years as a quality assurance and testing analyst, and they didnt give out raises last year because of covid. I am also graduating with my MBA and MHA this spring (useless degree i know). However, any attempt in job hunting I am either being offered less than what I make, or am being rejected during the application/interview process, even as I apply to jobs I am qualified for. Its become really discouraging as I feel like I have a valuable skillset and a “can do attitude” which is recognized in interviews as well. Given the cost of everything going up, including my rent. I am having to resort to instacart and doordash in my free time. Its become really discouraging, even as I look for similair analyst jobs, or junior level PM jobs. I’d be happy with being offered 70k. Any advice? 2 YOE 50k tc
This pay is a joke, leave.
Leave and sit at home? OP needs help with finding new job not quitting because of TC.
@GvhL14 obviously OP should be looking while still working their current job. But yes with 2 yoe you should transition into senior QA? Or at least something different with more pay.
Apply to Walmart or SF companies.
Do you think your resume might be structured very badly, or you're not using words in your resume that recruiters can easily pick up on? You should carefully look at the job postings and try to make your resume address every single point in some way, or use the words in them. This will make it so that you don't get screened out automatically also.
+1 on this. I was a big fan of jobscan to try to match my resume to the JD to get past the screeners. It's pretty incredible that you could have the job you're applying for and, to a screener, you look like a 10% match. Keep your head up and if they ask you salary requirements during an interview/screen, let them know you want to know their range. FWIW, Blind is full of completely wild TCs that can be really disheartening for the non-eng crowd. You're still new and seem like you're in the right headspace and also know your worth. You'll get there.
I appreciate that last point, not being in eng it feels like I’m on another planet browsing on here.
I know it's a meme, but have you considered becoming a developer? Im self taught, no degree, I used to work electrical. I started making apps one day and eventually got in as an engineer. It wasn't easy, and it wasn't fast, but the demand and pay are high. 240 TC
Sorry to highjack, but how did you get started? Like did you do like an online course via coursera? Or YouTube videos.? I’m trying to move toward a similar position from you as an architect and just trying to figure out how to start . Thanks !!
Please, could you share how you did this?

Even big companies don't raise in comp reviews. I got a laughable raise this year. Network if you can to get some feedback and research tips for resume and interview prep. Any friends who can review your stuff with you for honest constructive feedback?
I took a quick look at Glassdoor for Alight Solutions and filtered salaries for quality assurance. There are 3 salaries: $46k, $63k, $70k. The middle number person is probably average. The high number person probably negotiated well. The low number person was low-balled. Even if you can negotiate more, do you really want to stay there?
Get the hell out of there. That’s ridiculous
Checkout Dell jobs, TC will be significantly higher. Paying 98% to market on all roles right now.
