Many years ago I was into powerlifting and reached the 1.5xBW/1xBW/2xBW (bw=bodyweight) milestones for squat/bench/deadlift. I felt strong but got bored and didn’t even look like I worked out. I took a few years off from lifting to focus on boxing and running and only recently started lifting again. This time I’m following a bro-split bodybuilding program just to get a fucking sick pump and look jacked. Honestly I feel much better doing this program than any purely strength oriented program. Am I missing out on anything significant by not lifting heavy compounds?
Yes. Not to be rude, as I have no doubt you can exceed them, but those aren't especially big milestones for a dedicated lifter. And while strength isn't your goal, it will protect you from injury. You don't have to go Texas Method crazy to get some benefit. Try a HLM template like Madcow 5x5 Intermediate.
All good. I’m not concerned about putting up big numbers and am aware those aren’t impressive to real lifters, but I definitely want to get strong enough to minimize the risk of injuries in boxing/running.
If you only lift for hypertrophy eventually your gains will plateau. It's good to do a mix of strength and hypertrophy, and the best way to do that is to do heavy compound lifts Good luck, fellow swoldier 💪

Look up powerbuilding. You won't get bigger without getting stronger, and compound movements are the best way to get stronger. Not to mention compound movements are more efficient and will grow more muscle overall than isolation exercises. What I do a lot is I front load the compound movements, then do a compound assistance exercise thereafter. Finally I move into accessories (3-4 exercises) for hypertrophy. Maybe you'll like it better that way
Powerlifting was boring for me. Bodybuilding is an art that will get you girls AND GUYS. Trust.
As long as you are enjoying who cares about the problem
you have to be careful with routines you choose for body building. for instance you could over train mirror muscles and ignore others causing imbalances. in compound lifts that doesn’t happen. your strength numbers for compound lifts can come down temporarily when you focus on hypertrophy but you can pick it right back up and cross plateau after you decide to get back into compound lifts.
