How bad is it in meta?
I feel like I'm getting screwed over big time by Apple for an EPM role. They first asked for my numbers and then told me these are more reasonable and what they'd go with. Base - 165k RSU - 140/4 years Sign on - 30k TC - 230k But my ask was this: (i thought we'd meet somewhere closer to 300K TC) Base - 190k RSU - 270k /4 years Sign on - 60k This was such an unpleasant experience, the recruiter has been forcing me to take lower numbers and constantly asks me to take myself off the market for Apple to prove that i want to join Apple and taking a lower number would work in my favor long term as this is Apple that we're talking about. This conversation has been going on for more than 3-4 weeks now and when i told them i had a competing offer from another company, he insisted I wait for their numbers before finalizing anything. So when i shared the other company's numbers today (don't wanna disclose for anonymity) which added to 245k in TC, the Apple recruiter lowered my Base to 160k from 165k and said that it was impossible for them to approve 165k even though he quoted those numbers to begin with. When i confronted him about this,he said he never said those numbers and went on to say that numbers can change and he was trying to guage me. He says now he'll give me a final offer and I'd have to think if i want to place compensation over Apple's opportunity, essentially he wants me to sign the lower offer making it sound like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to work at Apple. I've never had such a disappointing and unpleasant experience with a recruiter before and honestly all this makes me think if i really want to work for such a company. None of his conversations are through email , just a regular phone call and the HM is never Cc'ed on anything. Is this common at Apple or at a FAANG? Should i take this offer even though it means getting screwed over big time? #hardware #interview #semiconductor #faang #apple Current TC - 180k YOE - 5yrs #hardware #interview #semiconductor #faang #apple
Dont
Our HR are a bunch of a**. Culture really depends on the team/org you will join.
This is for the SEG HW EPM, i liked the HM but the rest of the interviewiers kind of glorified the not taking a No for an answer culture and that i should be ready to work odd hours mostly. @xlkD23 Are you aware of the culture at this org? Really wanted to join apple but after this, I'm not really sure.
Lol not surprising. It's a shit show
I just rejected my EPM offer. HR dropped RSU from 400k to 250k. Wasted me 1.5 months interviewing and negotiating.
Sorry for the bad experience..just reject and move on.
There are recruiters in FAANG who want to pay part of your salary by brand name. There are enough people to fall for that scam. Good thing about Apple is that you can try for different team. Hopefully you’ll have better experience
Say goodbye to these cheapskates. You will find something better in this hot market. Reading more and more threads about this kind of behavior from 🍎 recruiters/HR. Bunch of asses.
If you have a better offer why are you crying over this. Move on and peace out . Fk those mf.
Don’t take that offer and apply somewhere else.
It is a good bump over your current TC.. if the other offer you have is from a good company with a good history of stock growth, I would take that.. if their stocks were just okay, then I would go with apple.. Personally I wouldnt worry too much about Base, any bump you get will get levelled with the rest of the team anyway in the suceeding review cycles.. However do negotiate hard on RSU..
What’s the best strategy to negotiate RSUs? I was offered $135K (4 years) as an IC5 (non technical) and not sure how much to counter.
