Just got a new grad SWE job in NYC (not Nokia) and I’ve been looking at 1BR apartments in downtown Manhattan.
My budget is $3K which is already pretty high IMO. But I am yet to see anything good in this range after weeks of looking. Every apartment either has a weird layout, shit kitchen, missing laundry, etc.
Is this just because of the season? Will things be better closer to the summer? Should I look for a roommate and look for a 2BR in $5k-$6k range?

At least NYC immigrants can sufficiently communicate.
The fucking irony, lmao. Did you mean to say: "No one on the street of NYC _can_ speak English?" How is your ESL looking ass being judgmental about other people's English skills?
