I have heard that Americans only drink cold water. They never drink hot water. Is it true? To clarify: Tea does not count. And hot water should be as hot as any hot coffee you get from Starbucks.
Yes, an overwhelming majority. /thread
By default water in the US is consumed cool or on ice. I was confused when I went to other places and it was warm, I assumed it was because tap water was contaminated and had to be boiled beforehand. I’ve also learned that as an American the volume of fluids I consume is abnormal: we’d have 3 cold glasses of water or sparkling water or sometimes even juice with every meal growing up. And for every glass of wine we’d match it 1:1 with a glass of water. In Asia, I’m inconveniencing everyone if I pour myself a second small glass of abnormally hot water because the pitcher at the table is so small.
Yeah, Americans are just drowning in false truths pulled over their eyes by businesses. A recommendation is to drink 6-8 oz of water a day. How many bottles of Fiji is that or how many water purifier filters is that? The longest living communities in the world don’t drink over 1.5 liters of water a day. But all these bottled waters aren’t going to sell themselves so you have to scare the peasants into handing over money for something which is free. Awesome business plan.
^ Simmer down there sonny
Americans don’t drinks cold water, they drink cold water with ice.
I always ask for water with no ice. No clue why anyone wants to drink ice water especially when it's cold outside.
It was sub-zero degrees this weekend in my area. I don’t know anyone asking for ice in their water then
I do this. This morning I took a glass of ice water with me in the car. I didn't end up drinking much of it before I got to work. When I came out to my car late this afternoon not only had the original ice in the water not melted but the rest of the water was frozen too... :/ I think the whole ice in the water thing is just habit at some point (like today).
I prefer room temp water.
Whatever I do is what all Americans do because we are a hive mind. Devoid of individuality or regional distinctions. All 350m of us. Duh!
Hive mind forever!!
What is the benefit of hot water? What has the biggest carbon footprint? Heating water to boiling point or chilling water (considering that the refrigerator is also keeping other food cold.
all the us companies I’ve worked for so far provide hot water in their micro kitchens. I guess they aren’t there to serve expatriates only
I have never known anyone to drink just pure hot water without anything in it. MAYBE when you are sick, but you add a little bit of honey to it. I’ve lived in the US my entire life. How common is it in other countries?
People in Taiwan drink hot water during winter
I drink hot water every winter night. Seems to help to reduce throat sore. It also makes me more comfortable. I only do that in my home country though. The heating system in the US is so good that I don't need it.
Uhh. I mean I drink cold water and warm water and Tea. Does Tea or warm water count as “hot water” ??
Tea coffee do not count.
Hot water I mean H2O as hot as hot chocolate
