I’m considering a move to becoming a developer advocate/evangelist. I don’t know if I will do it forever but it sounds great for a couple years. Would I be taking a pay cut or making a lateral move? TC 240
do you have 10k+ twitter followers?
What lvl are you?
No one has answered the question yet. Do Dev advocates make as much as swe?
No
I’m a solutions consultant. Previously solutions architect at smaller companies. Previously director (from programmer). SWE at the majors make more money than everyone. And they should. Only way for solutions engineer to make more money is through sales comp. only way for dev advocate to make more money is through fame. If you have a large following you can command whatever you like.

Thank you for answering the question.
Yup. Depends on company. I make 210k while our principal dev advocate makes 235k.
Woah, that's good! And that 210k, just base pay?
Those bullshit titles can only exist in bullshit companies. you will be limited to such companies and never work for anything smaller than 5000 employees.
I’m fine with that. Beats working for Lyft.
Please don't bash people or insult the company they work for. It's petty, especially when you can hide behind anonymity.
