Hi I am new grad in May 2021, accepted offer for Ford for 2022.

Living in Michigan and because of personal reason I am gonna stay in Michigan for 3 years from now.

I used to think that my resume and experiences dont even fit for FAANG companies so I was gonna get some experiences from Ford.

But I just got an interview with Google and took first interview which is just a basic stuff with snapshot and coding exercise. They were easy not hard.

Didnt even expect to pass my resume stage from Google and now I am wondering that maybe I can aim for FAANG by studying hard by grinding leetcode and stuff.

Do they allow new grads or 1~2 YOE person a remote job?

I know we have Amazon here in Detroit and I am also gonna try for Amazon now. But maybe I can get unexpected opportunity from others. Who knows?

I think a lot of people don't know that cracking FANG is actually pretty easy if you work hard + smart with LC practice and can get lucky with good interviewers. I'm sure you could do it with some more work

Can I DM you? Or can you elaborate on the smart preparation part? I mean, yeah know the fundamentals well and you can theoretically tackle any question..

As a counterpoint though, I had a friend who recently had a Google OnSite, was demoted to L3 because he couldn't solve one of the rounds in optimal time. He went to Microsoft who gave him L62 instead.

The way I like to prepare is by isolating patterns by DS/A category. Like Array, String, Stack/Queue, Graph, Tree, Dp, backtracking etc. Working on questions within each group, I try to develop mental flowcharts for solving each type of problem. While actually doing the LC problem, I time myself and try to take 15 mins total (5 mins to come up with the algo, and 10 mins to code up the solution). I then evaluate myself on code cleanliness (looking for places where I can tighten up patterns) and write down any bad habits like missing 1 offs for loops. Once you do the top 75, memorize enough patterns, and clean up bad habits, you should get really good at identifying a type of problem, working through your mental checklist for potential approaches, and then applying crisp patterns to solve questions.

I didn't come up with this myself either. Somebody told me more or less this exact same thing and it completely changed how I approached LC

My Google recruiter reiterated that if covid wasn’t super serious, they’d want new grads to be on site for a bit at least. I think if you’re a new grad, especially for Google, you might not get remote, depending on how the world goes. Pretty sure Meta is all remote/they are flexible with remote. Not sure about others since I have no experience with them.

Amazon is still figuring this stuff out. It’s probably going to be org-dependent. Sounds like we’re going to be mostly remote with some in office time.
