I would hope my peers are smart enough to not bring a baby into the world just for one month vacation.

You clearly don’t have a baby or have had no significant part in raising one if u are asking this question...

I've never heard anyone say "Gee, I think I'll have a kid to get an extra month of vacation. Sounds like a good tradeoff for 9 months of pregnancy, sleepiness nights, stress, a thousand extra commitments, another round of college tuition... yep, sign me up for that deal."

  • A kid requires round the clock attention for the first few months. So yes a 4 month break, full pay, no stress for hitting my work expectation at a E6 level due to automatic meets rating makes it easier for me to pull the trigger on a decision I want to make anyways.

Make something easier over a large population and notice more people doing it in aggregate.

  • No, because parental leave is one tiny part of raising that little asshole for the next 18 years.
