Do interviews change when you become more senior?

I’ve been in the industry for about 5 years now, going to look at getting interviews for senior level positions at the big ones (other than Amazon). I’m wondering how interviews are similar / different? Are the data structures and algo questions simpler? More complex? Use combinations of more data structures? Are the interviews more heavily focused on design? Is this OOP or system architecture?

Thanks in advance

  • Everyone and their mother is asking LC medium/hards nowadays, regardless of the company "tier".

This is the problem I see in a lot of smaller companies. They know to ask LC type questions, but they don’t know how to conduct a LC question. Instead of work with you on the question, they watch you like a zoo animal silently while you struggle on a question that you’ve never seen before. At that point, they already determined that they are better than you and not going to hire you.

  • I think interviews are even harder for seniors. More is expected of you and still have to code medium to hard leetcode algo.

  • In my experience the more senior you get interviews become less technical and more behavioral. Maybe there will be a few token technical questions but they'll be pretty light, mostly people assume you know your stuff by now

  • Most likely you get interviews due to connections and they ask you one coding round probably to test basic coding. Rest all is discussion based on your interests and background

Depends on company and interviewer, for facebook it’s mostly medium(no dp mostly string and grid)and for google (hard, was asked DP)and uber they asked hard but if you have done something similar it could be put in medium. I gave amazon mostly easy and medium more focus on LP and backtracking. Compass and asana they had leetcode easy, they wanted to know more about background and my projects. They all had system design, amazon had object oriented design and system design.
