Do people really make 300k annually?

I see lot of posts here saying $300k+ annual package. Is that including stocks? Are you guys developers or managers or VPs+

Yes, most engineers after 10 years or 5 years and FAANG

A good SWE who manages his career correctly will be making $300k+ in 5 years assuming they are living in a relevant area (CA, Seattle, NYC)

Microsoft dreamer6 Feb 22, 2020

5 yoe and 300k is a bit much for "a good SWE". L5s and L61-62 make somewhere between 200k - 250k. These are good SWEs too.

Microsoft dreamer6 Feb 22, 2020

Amazon L5 maps to 61-62. Lmao much?

In my case it took a while. I am a principal, 16 yoe $480k. No stock, 320 salary and the rest bonus.

How can your bonus be so high? Why no stock? Where do you work?

What? Level 63/64 pm at Microsoft makes 380k? In Redmond?

Only HFT and hedge funds offer that

Thatā€™s PhD new grads... Donā€™t trick the OP... Iā€™ve never heard an E3 with 300k. Not even rock star return interns. But yeah, 300K is really doable within one or two years. Itā€™s very easy and common to get promoted from 3 to 5 in like 3-4 halves at FB

Uber mr.doge Feb 22, 2020

L4 2.5 YOE, with stock appreciation, TC is 310k. Joined at a good time

SAP SAPsGreat Feb 22, 2020

18 yoe, 350 but without stocks itā€™s 320 or so. Thatā€™s a lot for such a mature company

Yahoo 57297393 Feb 22, 2020

300k tc includes stocks and itā€™s very doable. I donā€™t think stock appreciation is required if you do it right. You wonā€™t get that salary unless you are deliberate about it, but it is realistic.
