Baidu. ... Alibaba. ... Tencent. ... JD.com. ... Didi. ... Huawei. ... Xiaomi. Anyone work there or interviewed?
Meh....but you need to work 12 hrs a day 6 days a week right? That’s what I heard. A 996 working style? 9AM-9PM /6days/week? Meh.......
No, latest saying is 007. 0/12am to 0, 7 days a week. Esp if you are in management
Take home money seems to be at least on par with EU market
They pay better if you’re considered top talent
They pay huge if you are a talent, on the other hand, you work like a bitch. 12 hours per day, 6 days per week with 24/7 standby mode! Which means your boss might call you at any moment to ask you to do some work!
Bottom line: Below market pay, overworked, mildly sexually harassed, exclusion from conversations if you don’t speak mandarin, Chinese food 90% of the time, on call at absurd hours, career advancement? Lol get back to work. Even if it’s 25% to 40% above any American firm I’d advise you consider what your life will be like. Additionally if you’re not radically on board with blind obedience, then you’ll stick out as a problem. I think the biggest thing for me however is the lack of understanding of opportunity costs. They run their ops with almost pure engineering (very few product managers even) with one or two people to take up the slack in every other business function which inevitably leads to clown car daily administration and frankly opens themselves up to all kind of legal vulnerabilities. I’d steer clear unless money is your only driver...but even then you won’t find much of it here.
I know Didi Labs and Baidu; pay is similar to FB/G for the 2-3 examples I know.
And even if you are a top talent, they milk you quickly till you have no value and easily find faults of u to get you out... their stocks typically have a 2 yr cliff btw
Yes to part 1, no to part 2
I know a few there, they have a different culture for sure and it is not for everyone, not even all Chinese. Personally I wouldn't mind a few years there to climb the ladder and see how far I can get. I heard if you are good they can let you jump a few levels higher. This may be a good idea if you feel victimized by some Indian politics at your work and want to try something new. On the other hand if you are Indian who is good at politics it may work to your disadvantage.
They rich homie, they rich.
