I just buy a target fund and I don't change the frequency or amount I invest based on the market but I'm curious about what other people do.
I was invested in a balanced portfolio via Vanguard funds in 2008-9, then in 2009 I swapped those funds with funds with a 90% exposure to the broad market. About a month ago I swapped those out for a target fund with 50% bond 50% stock balance. Perhaps I will make the same moves if the market has a very steep correction in 2019-2021, but my retirement accounts are my primary asset, so I will likely make more conservative decisions in the future.
I just rebalance. Not really make investing approach changes. Recently took stock earnings and put them into bonds. Will rebalance again later when bonds lose steam.
