Do you feel excited about your work?

I can't remember that last time I felt excited about my work. At best I'm indifferent towards it and at worst I detest it. Mostly see it as a necessary evil and a waste of my time on this planet. How do you feel about your work? Also, what's your role?

      I guess i’m part of the “excited” crowd. I’m a new grad who went to shitty state school in the midwest. After months of getting months of getting my butt served in interviews, got to final rounds with Google/Audible/Salesforce/Square/Rubrik. Failed miserably most of them😂 I actually failed at Square on the 2nd round, reapplied month after and got my offer (took the offer months ago). I now work with an excited product, great senior/mid level engineers. Had 5 internships (1 IT, 3 soft eng, 1 security) all in local companies (nothing fancy at all) and the only good offer I got was a Robotics PMish role at Amazon. I leetcoded daily, failed constantly (onsites/OAs) All I wanted was one day to work for a big tech company for a software engineer and do something with all this damn work I put for months through internships, my own projects, and leetcode. Maybe it’s youth but i’m so happy now to work with very understanding/knowledgeable colleagues, a product I find cool, and with good WLB I think? (WFH so very flexible). I’m just happy that after years of hard work I get to write code and get payed for it, I really hope this gratitude I feel right now never leaves :)

      TLDR: Feels I had to put so much effort through a shitty college, several internships with small companies and constantly trying to learn through projects. I’m just grateful to get to code for a living, it has been a dream in the making, and I just hope this feeling last forever (or at least remember how much I cried and worked to just get here)

    I don't hate it, but I don't always love it either, It's a mix -- few days are great and other not so great. But as I am aging(30 now) , I try not to make my life revolve around my work.
