Thinking of moving back to the homeland. thinking of leetcoding into a nice rsu package in the US at one of the big names with an established India office (Amzn, Goog, LI, any other, pls comment below) and transferring after a year. Anyone done this? Any gotchas like company not allowing you to keep your RSUs or not letting transfer if you have too much unvested RSU?
Obviously transfer intentionally has a lot of rules , technically you are going to get a new local offer
Usually not. It’s a rehire under local law.
I just did that move. You keep all your gsus that have been granted. You base salary will change and your refreshers will change from the next refresh cycle
Even the rsus? I know that FB allows people to keep it when they move to/from London. I am not sure about Singapore, though. I am ok with base dropping down. Having a nice 500-600k unvested rsus would be a nice cushion back home
For Amazon, you get to keep your RSUs when transferring.
That is great news. How is the work? Do the teams get good projects? If you push for an initiative is there a good chance it gets accepted based on just merit even though you are remote?
Work depends on team. For some orgs whole teams are in India. From PMs to SDEs. So everything is driven from here. For some, sister teams are in US. Maybe for those US leadership has bigger say.
What about the sign on bonus
