Do you have a bad opinion about someone who writes on their LinkedIn profile that he works as a „fullstack developer“?

I insisted on my previous job on that title because that’s what I work as. Now I’m worried that i may come off as inexperienced to recruiters/big tech companies

Full stack means good at back end and front end, so no.

My eyes roll when I encounter "AI/ML/Block chain/Bitcoin/VR specialist, innovator, influencer, motivational speaker"

That’s not what an ordinary software developer would write on their profile but more like people in management position

It’s usually bootcamp graduates who describe themselves as full-stack engineers, because they’ve done a couple of tutorials on Mongo and Angular.

I’m a full stack engineer, L5 with 6yoe and ~420k tc. You should probably start working with better people if you’ve never worked with a strong full stack engineer before. Admittedly, I’m not as strong on either front as an equivalently experienced specialist and if I want to hit L6, I’ll need to specialize.

full stack is a myth 😂 they don’t know anything, they just know how to create mess

Airbnb 0x00000000 May 5, 2019

Why would anyone roll their eyes at that?

People who don’t know how to be a Full stack dev.

I didn’t really like the term when it caught on at first, but it’s grown on me as people take on extreme specializations now that the front and back ends drift further apart. Honestly imo, if anyone who considers themselves an engineer doesn’t have enough of a grasp of the “full stack” to consider themselves a full stack developer, then you’re just not a good engineer.

Full stack means front end that build a CRUD back end. Basically, it means front end.

Seriously? What’s with all the full stack hate? Is it really that hard to imagine someone who knows two different frameworks—one just happens to be backend and the other frontend? I’ve built and deployed the entire solution for several startups. It’s not that hard. During interviews people often ask, “Would you rather work frontend or backend?”, and I never know how to answer because I’m used to working both.

I have very bad opinions. Really really bad. Those are all bad boys.

I sometimes interview full stack engineers that are backend. They fail in the phone screen on a hello world level front end question
