There was a time when a person with a good mix of different talents excelled in entrepreneurial journeys. But in today’s hyper competitive tech landscape, is being a top notch engineer THE most important thing or even a prerequisite to start an entrepreneurial journey? Can an average joe engineer succeed as a tech entrepreneur? Is it almost impossible to raise capital, hire top talent and execute on product excellence without being the absolute best of the best engineer of Silicon Valley?#tech #startup #entrepreneurship

The first thing is to relinquish the need to ask questions like these.

Average Joe won't succeed because average Joe doesn't have the drive or ambition.

Just be able to do full stack and have a business acumen.

what matters is that you can coordinate and delegate. The first months (poc) will be all about you and few peers, but as it grows you will need different mindset (leader, delegation) if you dont adapt you will fail. You must learn about every other kind of skill little
bit of everything and most important be able to build a team that you trust and is delivering

And stop been insecure just fucking do it, you can do it.

Good advice. Thanks. Yes, feel very insecure about the competition out there. In fact intimidated whenever I visit some of these boot camps and incubators. Everyone seems a gates or zuckerberg.

they can all be smart and shit, but persistance and drive makes all the diference, many will surrender, they dont have the nerves of steel to go against multiple failure so just focus do it, and DO NOT SURRENDER. If you do, you failed

Do you think bill g and jeff and others are really that smart? they are actually pretty avg but are persitant and fight hard.

The answer to this is a strong no. The key skills are product sense, resilience, the ability to convince people about your vision and the ability to raise capital.

  • you don't need the engineering experience, you need to know how to sell your product and get users and investors on board. other people can be your code monkeys
