I found Tesla as a company or the stock, together with its cars, is really polarizing. Many people love it and think it is the future; while there are people who hate it, doubt it or think it will go bankrupt. I am a Tesla fan and I do find a lot of Tesla fans or Tesla favorite videos on YouTube from many people but I am wondering if I am just living in a bubble (thanks to YouTube recommendation system). There are many analyst on TV networks saying Tesla is hugely overvalued as well.
Neither. I think they are doing very important stuff, but I am not sure about their lobbying / getting government credits / effectively getting taxpayer-sponsored subsidies. This is very wrong.
Thanks for the reply. Regarding the subsides, every electric automaker enjoys this, not only Tesla. Many countries have similar policies actually. (The subsides is going away for Tesla actually, because it is about to reach the gov’s limit of 20K EV sold I believe. Other companies is not close to this limit yet ).
200k sold*
I think the cars are boring and they only exist because of government subsidies. They don’t have a real market.
Model 3 generated the most revenue of any car in the world last quarter.
Tesla are doing cool stuff, there's a lot to be admired. Musk personally has done a lot of cool shit, assembled some great teams and businesses. But he's a bit of a dick and probably needs a vacation.
When I was considering joining the company and started researching, I started to realize that the quality of arguments from the short seller side were severely lower quality and more superficial than the bullish arguments. Take for example the comment from @ijyA68 above. Posting a link referring to an FBI probe that is investigating whether Elon projected too ambitious numbers when launching the Model 3. Really? Is that a crime? Should SpaceX be investigated for claiming to be able to land rocket boosters and failing 3 times before doing it successfully? Never new that setting and building hype around ambitious goals was a crime.
How do you enough working at Tesla? My girlfriend is applying for an intern there :) SDE
I’m not saying I agree with the point of criminal activity having been done. I highly doubt it. However, as a public company it is definitely illegal to mislead investors if you know damn well you can’t hit numbers you’re putting out there. It’s going to be near impossible to prove anything unless there’s a trail of people saying they’re purposely lying.
The vast, vast majority of humans on Earth spend basically zero time thinking about Tesla. It's far less polarizing than you think.
The new Teslas look so plastic. I dislike them. Hate is a strong word.
Have had 3 Teslas so far (2 x MX, 1 x MS)... love all of them. I used to drive Audi and Porsche, but have never looked back since we got our first Tesla. Not sure about the company, but the cars are truly amazing to drive
I traded in my $14k Ford Fusion (price when I originally bought it - I got $3600 on the trade) for a $65k Dual Motor Model 3. And then I spent $8k getting it a satin XPEL wrap and ceramic coating. Tonight the software that will let it start suggesting lane changes (and initiating them, with my approval) to navigate the highway system, interchanges, etc, is going live for North America. The hype is real.
I like Mercedes E class more rather than m3 or even ms. E is more comfortable.
For those who chose Hate, could you briefly say why?
Elon Musk is a terrible CEO and is delusional Massively overvalued and won't ever truly be a mass-market manufacturer Sick of the fan boys who drink the kool aid Sooner or later the stock will plummet when people realize how overvalued it is and I think it'll be the first domino that triggers other tech stocks tumbling for real If Musk wasn't the CEO and they stuck with being a luxury car manufacturer (which is truly what they are) I wouldn't have a problem
Fb took 3 years to deliver a dumb video calling device (Portal) and Tesla built and scaled the manufacturing of a new car in the same time. Now tell me who’s an awesome CEO?
