Question to Indians in India. Do you regret staying in India? Are you jelous of those who made it to America? Do you experience FOMO knowing how much more your America colleagues are making?
I'm curious why people want to get out of India so badly?
The reason why blind app exists and it is the same reason that is TC. Surprising I have seen European moving and working in US for TC.
3rd world country?
FOMO follows a bell curve. First it is low because few want to take a risk. Next, it increases toward a peak as more testimonials of the New World are spread. Eventually, it dies down as the hype is counteracted by local economic development.
Not to America or for money, in India you can get enough money. Quality of life which is making me feel to leave India.
I have 15 yr work experience in tech in India. Few years back yes it was envious to see friends and colleagues in US. I never had guts, confidence, parents support to move to US. Currently I am happily settled here. Own an apartment, good TC, kids are well settled in school, good savings, can FIRE any time. Major luxury is cook cooking 3 time meals, maid for all the chores, Uber to commute. Its difficult to leave this luxury.
If and when India economy catches up with the rest of the world, you probably will loose all that slave labor you’re enjoying so much.
Cool story bro, now get back to that burger
Now I feel FOMO seeing colleagues and friends moving to Europe, Amsterdam, Singapore, Indonesia many South Asian tech companies, to travel and explore new cultures. US is not envious. I wish I had this confidence, this flexibility few years back before I had family responsibilities. I would have loved to explore the world while coding ;) now hoping to do it after kids leave the nest
Wanting to leave India is not for money. It's coz of fking people- most of populace is corrupt, selfish and devoid of moral values. Don't want to live in a glass bubble tech guys live in India with their cushy jobs
yes agree. People shit is there. No professionalism, inherent biases are there. I yearn for technical excellence
Agreed with above comment . Money is not the biggest problem here but the corruption and selfishness
Having worked at FANG-like jobs in both places, I would pick India on any day. Running a business is much much harder in India, but then thanks to US laws, most Indians aren't allowed run a business in the US anyway. As a high paid employee, India beats US any day. Also, as a single guy, the attention you get from women in India is definitely flattering and ego boosting. Indian male personal life is a complete shitshow in the US for 90+% people.
No, I regret moving to the US. I am now too American for Indians but still too Indian for Americans.
You lost your place I guess sorta like Mohan in swades movie
I know people earning 1 cr tc in India , why they will move to USA ? Also lot of people do business in India where they earn a lot in India itself without having to go outside.
