I’m sure there are others I’m not thinking about, but for the big boys who’ve got a lot of $$$…it’s the last thing they should be thinking of doing. If anything, it’s a talent grab for all of the startups and non-profitable companies that can’t keep their people or pay them enough during tough times.
Moreover, unless they are already pipping every year, there are at least 5-10% of dead weight under performers in the company. When everyone is doing layoffs, it is the perfect excuse to get rid of the dead weights.
