Do you think is “unethical” to look for a new job/position while pregnant?

I use the word “unethical” vaguely, because technically it’s not. But I hate my role now, and Ive been applying (mostly within my firm) before I found out I was pregnant, and now after. I cant help but feel “guilty” of being pregnant knowing I’ll be leaving on maternity leave in 6 months or so (Im only 12 weeks). Im just wondering what do people think? Maybe Im just overreacting, and this is a normal practice.

Do you think it’s “unethical” to become pregnant while working? If the answer is no, the answer to your question is no as well! Company wouldn’t think twice before firing you even if you’re pregnant. Likewise, you do the needful and kindly revert back.

you should make posters and announce that you are expecting and applying for jobs.... 😂😂 Do whatever you want and give a f*** about what orher might or might not think wrt your pregnancy

The fact that a pregnant woman has to think twice before applying for a job says a lot about what we've devolved to as humans. No, you shouldn't have to think it's unethical or feel guilty about it. If anything, the hiring manager who rejects you for that reason should.

No one cares. I’ve been on teams where we had a new hire and no one found out they were pregnant till a week later or something. There might be jokes about how no one saw it but no ones gonna care that much tbh. Come back and crush it.

Generally women end being put at a disadvantage by having a child and companies have recognized it and given people leave but not really done anything to compensate for the career years lost and for you to not leverage that to get something better would be unethical

No. Might be hard to find a new position, even though most Places maternal status is protected. But don’t let that discourage your from looking. But if you can find a new position it ain’t immoral in anyway.

You are already thinking about your future team, job and employer even before you joined them. There is no law, policy or practice in place that restricts you from seeking another job. You should stop feeling guilty and use that energy in landing in your dream job and taking good care of yourself during this blessed time.

Not unethical at all. Basically maternity leave has to be treated as a career on pause. Ignored time that can’t be counted for or against someone. If you’re in a role for three months then you go on leave, so what.
