I think today’s event was not needed. Nothing ready except Apple news. Should have been announced in Fall.
Where’s Steve Jobs when you need him?
Wall Street didn't give a crap about any of that.
How is an annual event rushed? Some of what was announced is available today. Why wait for fall?
A credit card? Wow! That’s revolutionary!
Its revolution because its apple design. They have the midas touch. I think Amazon does way more innovative things than Apple. It's because of lack of benefits and free food that Amazon takes a hit in the tech community. I wished Amazon engineers be proud about themselves just as a Google or Facebook engineer is.
I’m getting one. Between the 2% cash back (immediately applied to your account), privacy guarantees (everyone else sells your purchase history), and rolling security code, it’s a no-brainer.
For consumers the individual announcements were not sexy enough, but for share holders, this is all great news. Credit card is a great way to generate a lot of cash.
Seriously?
Recession is coming, everyone will need an extra credit card.
News won’t generate the subscribers they’re thinking. Only a select, niche market, pay for news. Gonna floppy flop fop Subscription all the things is indicative they have a bunch of MBA grads from the 2000s.
Yeah, people that need real news pay for it.
The news industry has been struggling to make money, but of course Apple thinks it can revolutionize it. Gone are the days of Steve Jobs.
Agreed. However only a dictator could do what Steve did. Nobody at Apple has that power anymore
I think it looked bad to be going on about how important journalism is right after everyone realized we wasted two years listening to (Pulitzer Prize-winning) Russian collusion conspiracies.
Apple has put out a lot of updates this month. Now is the time to get out these updates well in advance of WWDC so teams can focus on what will be announced in that keynote. After many long weeks teams can take a little break after WWDC before getting back into it for the fall releases. I see nothing out of line with the event yesterday.
Already liking news+, but they should have saved the hardware announcements for yesterday to make it feel like a more traditional apple event. Especially the iPads which they could of touted as news/magazine/gaming devices.
But how else would Oprah stay relevant?
I think it's Opera
