I always use Google Maps. Really great interface and features. Apple trying to salvage Apple Maps is like Microsoft IE trying to compete with Google Chrome. Apple can probably save a ton by scrapping their maps and headcount associated with it ( engineers, PMs, Directors etc)
It's apple maps bad
This guy f**ks
Ever since CarPlay introduced support for GMaps, there’s been no reason to use Apple Maps.
Apple Maps is much prettier in CarPlay, plus it supports the split screen view.
Lol MSFT is competing with chrome. We revamped IE to edge. And the new chromium based edge is pretty sweet. Could’ve said yahoo competing with google search. Better analogy.
Edge is just a faster chrome downloader
^ 😂😂
I know a lot of non tech people use Apple Maps. My gf uses apple maps and I think sometimes apple maps are more accurate on iphone because they are probably optimized for iphone.
Default settings are powerful
It’s better for walking in cities because a) it loads more quickly; even a second or two more of staring at a phone is a second or two more risk of being mugged, b) it labels the street names more obviously; GPS breaks with large buildings, so you have to look at street signs to figure out exactly where you are.
I use Apple Maps out of support for my company lol, but when I’m in a hurry I use G Maps because it is more reliable. However I will say Apple Maps has better UI (and friends who use G Maps say this as well) and it is improving its data (there was an article on this). Routing algorithms can still be an issue
I use Apple Maps some of the time, but use Google Maps if I need to search (like Mexican restaurants near me, etc)
I personally prefer how Apple maps dictates directions. They used to be much less reliable in terms of route, but I’ve had no issues lately. Also, I try to make it harder for google to steal all my info and avoid them when possible.
Yeah so here’s the thing. I used to think Apple Maps was garbage but at this point, in the Bay Area, if you are driving it wins heavily. I keep all 3 open because I have ocd about that sort of thing and the UI of being able to see lights and all that helps so much. On public transit I don’t use it but I don’t know if that’s just me not trying it. If I leave Bay Area I also don’t use it lol. But seriously try it for a week in the Bay Area and you’ll see it’s good.
The street view is insane
