How come nobody is doing a documentary of how it's like coming to Seattle or Silicon Valley in California straight from either India or China? Like you're living in India or China as a student, and all of a sudden, after rounds of interview, you get a gig at a FAANG. You're leaving everything and starting to work as a developer for these tech companies. What's the cultural, and mental shift are you going through? Do you miss your home country? What is your long term vision? Are you having trouble making genuine friends? Why did you take this job? What's your family situation like? Is Netflix doing a documentary to cover this?
For here or to go - is one of them I think
It’s not that much of a shift as you imagine, in 90s - yes, but not now.
Because of internet? Because of globalization?
Sounds boring
Most people would first go to school in the US, then be hired as US graduates, no?
What do you mean? Most people come to the US without staying here....
Here you go https://youtu.be/VbEQriZEfoI
We should def have a documentary about how privileged immigrants manage to get 100k jobs and move to a tech city. That sort of struggle could easily be an Oscar contender!
How are they privileged? 🤔 I think their life is pretty sad
They are privileged because they can afford to get an education and position themselves for a bette future. You think the majority of the Indian population has the means to send their kids to study engineering? No. It’s only the kids of the upper middle class that can afford to study engineering. Now I’m sure there are anomalies here and there, but the grand majority of people live in an economic situation that doesn’t allow them to afford the education required to get a visa to the states
What kind of cultural shift are you experiencing? Everyone is indian or chinese in tech already
Waiting for you to do it bro
Thanks bruh lol
