I recently turned in my notice, 6 months after relocating. Does Amazon ask back relocation money (it is in the contract)? #relocation #resignation
Yes
Why resigning after 6 months?
Hahahaha
Here's a crazy idea: read the contract?
One of the recruiters (not Amazom) said that she worked as HR in a few large organizations in the Bay area and none ever asked back relocation money even though it's was in the contract. That gave me hope. So, I am curious whether anyone here is speaking from experience. If so, please share some details - situation, when, how much, Corp reloc/lump sum, etc.
OP is looking for a silver lining and wants to hear someone say no !
Hey it's the holidays maybe they'll let it slide.
Yes
Absolutely, especially when you decide to leave. If they fire you, they will use the "we will waive relocation payback” to try and get out of paying severance.
Well. They will cancel it out if you severance. Like, you get X severance and you owe Y relocation so they cut you a check for X-Y
I resigned w/ two weeks notice - did not get fired. My final (or at least that's what I think it is) paycheck is in, and they haven't deducted relocation money. Should I expect communication from HR after my last day at work, about paying back relocation money?
Frugal is a leadership principle...I'd bet they are going to ask for it back!
We will know soon.

Are you speaking from experience? What happened? Was it at Amazon? How long ago? How much did you have to pay back?
(Amount / 12 months) * 6 months remaining in contract= amount owed. Assuming your contract has a 12 month prorated clawback
