if i tell the recruiter i expect 200k TC will Amazon reject me after the onsite interview because my performance wasnt worth 200k or would they offer me 120k?
Every level has its upper bar. If you ask beyond that, they'll offer you the best they could. I rejected an offer because the offer wasn't what I expected. I asked for a higher level but no luck. A few months later, another recruiter reached out to me and told me that since I've already interviewed for this level, I don't need to reinterview for 6 months. I can just casually talk with HMs and pick the team I wish to join. I did the same and picked a team that has average retention of 3 years.
How so you find the average retention stat
I didn't know it existed. I spoke to my manager and she mentioned it. I still didn't know that's a thing until I requested to speak to a technical person and that guy gave me that Stat and explained how it matters in picking the right team. Apparently Amazon avg is 2 years so try finding good teams keeping that average up and stay away from teams that are bringing the avg down. The minimum period you had to spend in a team was 18 months. This has changed now though. You can move to a different team as long as the new HM is willing to take you.
Why would you get rejected? It’s up to you to decide whether you’re getting a fair deal and accept or reject it. The position might get filled while you’re negotiating though.
Some companies do that but Afaik Amazon doesn't.
They won’t reject just because you ask for more $ They may reject if you keep asking for more $ without justifying what you bring to the table
