Does Blind encourage more people move to the US?

Apr 12, 2021 7 Comments

Blind is global and majority of posts are related to coming to the US because of $$$ and not necessarily for “learning”. How many of you think that companies would introduce an additional round like quant tests as a first step before a phone screen, like they do in India?

It is looking like US is heading in that direction. Honestly, I feel really bad that people have to compete for basic resources in highly populated countries and had to seek a better life outside. I’m just being paranoid that I’d need to keep running this rat race all my life.

Do you think Blind has or would motivate a lot of people in Tech to move to the US and increase competition for US jobs? Sometimes I wish Blind was specific to a country or else it would be the next Quora.

    Those who could/can already did/will.
It's not like one could get up one day, pack and move to the US and earn a 6 figures salary.
It's hard for a lot of reasons, one being visa issues

People with US Master's struggle to get a visa, let alone a random person from outside.
Visa is a very big deterrent for people to move to the US.

If people don't come to US, then jobs will start moving outside. Pick your poison.
Look at the number of engineers employed by US companies in India and their expansion rates.

  • A much bigger effect is that now more people in US know they can double their TC by cracking the interviews in certain ways. As a result, the rat race is more intense now.

Most opinions are blind are very subjective. But having an open platform / community like this is a privilege. Make your own path.
