Does Google hire international applicants to work in their Mountain View office?

I'm on f1 visa in the US working for a company and have an interview with Google but due to an emergency need to go back to my home country for a few months. I think I'll lose my status if I go back so can I still interview for a Mountain View position? Will they sponsor H1B?

Not anymore. Almost no one will do this immediately since H1b odds are not good. They’ll likely tell you to apply at international office, and if you really want, you can try to transfer after year or year and a half with an L1 or H1b.

Opt is perfectly valid. Generally speaking, if you dont get h1b from lottery they will work to support your career in different country (relocation, etc.) while they try to figure out how to bring you back here.
