Does Microsoft even review the applications on their Job portal??

Are online applications to job postings on LinkedIn or job portals even reviewed by Microsoft?? My applications from 2018 & 2019 are still “under review” on their portal, never got a rejection email nor an interview call for the 20+ job positions I have applied to. #jobhunt #help

I think they don’t. I have some apps under review for almost 1 year

Thought so as I’ve been applying for 2+ years now and no calls even when the job description is a perfect match.

Referrals are the way to go. Most online application die at the hands of ATS

Microsoft online application portal is a black hole. Referral is the light which will guide you through the tunnel

But I do not know anyone personally at MS to ask for referrals and LinkedIn in-mails are a dead end for sure.

Network your way through LinkedIn. Of you send 10 in mails, at least 2 should revert back imo. Reach out to people from the team you would like to work in if possible. Talk to them about the work they are doing. The challenges they are facing. Share your insights about the problem, your aspirations of working in that field, then maybe they would refer you.

Also people say 'rooftop slushie' is a helpful platform. I haven't tried that personally but check it out

Ask here. Plenty of kind blinders. 😁

Tried that already.. too many posts, too many asks, not everyone is heard 🤪

Hey, even I didn't know before. I searched "recruiter" in same state as I am who are working at MSFT and requested them. It was helpful.

Unbelievable as it might sound, I have at least 15-20 MSFT recruiters connected with me on LinkedIn and yet no response! It’s like everybody just wants to increase the no. of connections and sit happily watching them 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my experience (and I have a big LinkedIn network) people don’t connect with you so you can instantly reach out to them re: a job. They get bombarded by dozens of those people daily. The advantage of connecting with a recruiter on LinkedIn, IMO, is that they post about roles that they are directly looking to fill, as soon as they open. At THAT point it can helpful to reach out and say “hey I saw you are searching for candidates for X role, and I think I’m a good fit, would you be willing to talk further or can I send a resume?” It gives you a higher chance at getting a response in general, but also allows you to be seen right at the outset of a search instead of seeing a role weeks after it’s posted and may be too late

Nope. You need someone on the inside to literally hand your resume to the hiring manager.

And what if you don’t know anyone working there? Getting referrals is a task in itself.
