BREAKING: Internal sources confirm another round of layoffs just hit emails at Tesla. For real.
It's great that it exists and all, but given I travel often and car rental companies have fewer cars because of Uber/Lyft, it's really one of the most unpleasant parts of my day: requesting one takes time, then racing to the location generally before I'm ready, then finding it when it arrives (never in the spot requested), getting all my stuff in a cramped Prius, getting nauseated from a super-jerky, unventilated ride, getting dropped off in non-convenient locations and then watch my rating drop because I didn't perfectly know exactly where they were going to pick me up or asked them to stop speeding. It's enabled a ton of flexibility and convenience, yes, and created a vast employment market -- but actually riding in one is just really unpleasant. TC: 410k
It sounds to me like you're doing it wrong. The entire point is to request the case when you need it, and if you're scrambling and "not ready", then your should've ordered the car later. Similarly, if you're not being dropped off exactly where you want to be, that's your fault. Your tell them where to take you. The rest is just normal taxi stuff that will always be true about rides for hire.
Well, it's a gamble every time. You don't know when you'll actually get a ride. If the app says 7 min, and that's how much time you need to get ready, and it comes in 2 min, you're scrambling. If you're ready and it says 2 min, sometimes it then says 7 min and you're waiting in the cold. It's never the right amount of time, and it's just extremely unpleasant either way.
"racing to the location" - why you're not ready ahead of time? "Cramped Prius" - why not order XL? "arrives (never in the spot requested)" and "getting dropped off in non-convenient location" - any examples? App-based rides have designated spots in high traffic region. Try to be a driver. So entitled!
Because sometimes life just doesn't work out that way. Could order XL but it's more expensive/not cost effective. Do you need exact GPS coordinates? I have tried to be a driver. It sucks.
So then rent a car and be done with it.
I don’t take lyft or uber ride to enjoy. It is mode of transportation to go from place A to place B. Either accept the reality and take the economy ride or throw money and get a luxury ride. Just replace lyft/uber with other modes of transportation(Bart/low cost airlines...) you won’t enjoy those all the time but it helps you to get to a place without spending much.
Agree. It’s just cheap and convenient. Not something I really enjoy. Generally speaking, the cars are a bit old, not fully cleaned and lower tier. Most drivers are nice people. It needs improvement on safety, background checking and much better routing during rush hours.
What is is about Rideshare drivers turning off the fresh air fan?
Fuel efficiency, probably.
Yeah, makes zero difference. A 20W fan running compared to the 111kW generator under the hood.
Order Uber Premium. It is awesome. You obviously don't enjoy the basic economy option and have money. Why force yourself?
You mean Uber Select?
Yes, just scroll down and you find many options for people with refined taste.
It’s cheap, after all
Most cars smell like shit. They don't care open the vent fans.
I used to but now they have all started smelling like shit. Inb4 “maybe it’s you”
