Did a bootcamp, now a product designer. But, I had a lot of relevant previous experience. Master's in sociology. Work exp in marketing/advertising and market research. My role is not heavy in UI work.

Speaking as someone who has hired UXD’s but not Bay Area: No. It’s like taking one ten week class and now calling yourself a UX Designer. Unfortunately there’s been an influx of GA grads with one class project and are going for junior level roles. They get beat out by people coming from an actual university with an HCI degree. If you are looking to go into UX, get a masters. That’s your best bet.

If you spend months working on your portfolio it’s possible but difficult. Entry level UX is very competitive.

Old coworker I know was successful. She had a degree in psych (so relevant) and always artistic. Did GA. Got a shitty job at a shitty startup for a year. Became a product designer at LinkedIn. Worked there for 6 years or so moving up the ranks. Now design manager.
