I am thinking about exploring opportunities at AWS and Azure . Does having an active TS/SCI help in landing a job? If so, how much does it help? If anyone can expand on a yes or no answer, its appreciated. Best!
Yes, especially if you want to join the govcloud org or PS org
Yes. Also Salesforce was hiring cleared people.
Yes, they both have contracts. Won't help you past the first step, though
Big help. 20% higher TC. Will lower the bar in the interviews if you don’t make it initially.
Can you expand on that? How do you know this? I’m in a similar position to OP and trying to figure out how my TS/SCI might help me in the process.
you can get 15 to 25 percent more depending on clearance level working at msft
An initial TC/SCI can be expensive for an employer depending on the individual. 10+ years ago it was a relatively simpler process today I have seen people take years to get their clearance. When I was in P&W we had a room for people that were hired but waiting for the clearance to drop. These people sat around getting paid. This is the insensitive for companies to find people that already have a clearance.
its 100% free... unless you're talking about the 18 months+ of waiting
yo I'm Interviewing at aws and MSFT. Are the cleared orgs pretty isolated? Would hate to join MSFT or Amazon and be subjected to the dod contractor culture again.
What about TS/SCI/Poly with financial/project management experience ... aws or Microsoft have an ax for that and what does comp look like?
At amazon the interview process is the same, but it'll definitely get you past the resume screen if you apply to a job that wants a clearance. Pay is the same except you get a quarterly bonus for having it. Managers usually play games to rate you TT just to keep you. Just be ready to spend more ops time than the regular SDE
What’s TT referencing? Also, when working with the gov agencies that care about these clearances, the wbl ratio is very different, what’s aws expectations on that? Do they understand gov works 10x slower then commercial? Anyone that’s dealt with gov for a long time knows how gov works and it isn’t a slave driver like Amazon supposedly is. So I would assume the Wlb is more akin to the clients their trying to court. ?
top tier. best ranking, you get top of band pay. Amazon understands the government works slower, but it doesn't ever want the government to wait on them. WLB depends greatly on the team.
yes
Can you expand on this?:)
you get a bonus based on the level of clearance you have paid out quarterly
