I am 27 . TC 328. I want to acknowledge my privilege. I want to ask all the old (35 and over) people here : does life get better as you get older? I can forsee some things in the near future which would potentially suck: 1.) harder to progress from t6 and beyond . TC stagnation. 2.) parents getting sick 3.) realizing you married the wrong person 4.) regret making babies with that person 5.) coming to terms with the fact that you have significantly less options than you did when you were single , childfree, and had healthy parents (see 6&7) 6.) seeing younger colleagues who aren’t “tied down” taking PTO to travel around the world 7.) not having the resources/time for hobbies 8.) worrying about if your kids don’t like you 9.) your children’s health 10.) feeling like you cant keep up anymore these are things that I observed from working with people who are above 36 and settled in life. I guess whatI am really asking is, what can I do to hedge against the inevitable ?
You lost me at the drivel about privilege
No it doesnt. Sorry.
At least we have awesome Expedia discounts for bundle packages.. not a bad time to be alive thanks to people like you. 🙏
I think you/we just provided copy for the next Expedia TV commercial 😉
Life doesn’t get worse as you get older, it just gets different. It’s up to you to find the silver linings and make the best of each stage. You only have one life.
Yeah when you get older you realize all this total comp shit is completely useless.
Haha, good one.
This is just incredibly stupid. Just stay a loner. You shouldn't judge how your life will be based on others.
I don’t know why you have to be so mean. re: judging your life based on others - I hope your parents remain healthy for the next 100 years. ❤️ I will counter your rage and toxicity with love. I will win.
^ We need more of this guy on Blind
Depends on the person. Reading your post, I am pretty confident that it's all downhill for you from here.
Hey hey, ditto!
Hey hey, Great comeback!!
FIRE 🔥 I’m done with TC chase. I got what I wanted. A nice print on my W2. Everytime my TC gets to 8% of my liquid NW. more like the other way around. I wonder why I show up to work. I am jealous of people aren’t tied down and their abilities to travel for the moment. It will change as kids grow older All your other points are valid. Parents getting sick is normal, people get old.
Congratulations!
You are 27 and you consider 35 old? We're you born in 1505 and some how time traveled to 2020? People aren't old until sometime after 50 and it really depends on how well they take care of themselves when they are young.
I genuinely hope what you are saying is true. I just want to know how I can take care of myself so that I don’t need viagra prescription when I turn 41.
Eat right, exercise and don't watch porn.
I am 35 at half your TC ... been through most of it... Two suggestion 1. Money is never enough... strive for happiness and not high bank balance. 2. Keep living your preset... worrying about future or regretting the past kills your present
2.) Then why does everyone keep on telling me to max out my 401k
Because that’s smart money management. Smart money management /= maximizing or chasing TC
