Does one gets ineligible to rehire flag if one quits during Amazon dev plan?

Heard an incident of a friend who was working with Amazon for more than 3 years or so but was put on dev plan. He didn’t agree with the feedback and so quit within a few days. so he did not complete the dev plan. He joined a startup and was working there for more than a year or so. Few days back he was trying to get into another team in amazon but after talking to the hiring manager it seems they did not proceed with setting up a loop. Does that mean he is ( or people with similar cases are) put on an ineligible to rehire list? How long is this valid? Is it for lifetime even if one re-applies at a different role/level? Can any amazon manager or anyone confirm this. #amazon

God, the list of ineligible for rehire at Amazon is probably higher than former employees eligible for rehire.

It is lifetime and only an L10 can approve to override. Amazon is a stepping stone, don’t ever come back. Learn from it, take the money and run.

Totally agreed! Thanks!

dev plan == PIP? Someone got PIP'ed and left, but still want to crawl back to Amazon? Is that person masochistic or what?

Dev plan is kinda pre-PIP actually. But ya what you are saying does make sense :)

Yes, he is ineligible for rehire. Need an override from L10 to come back.

Probably need Bezos himself to unlock this, but he is too busy with Lauren

No you need an override from L9

There’s no such thing as L9. If you left during dev plan or pip, you are not eligible to be rehired unless approved by VP.

I think you are misusing the term "development plan". It's just PIP You can have an individual development plan to grow within Amazon. That has no relation with HR, you make the plan and you work with your manager

VMware mqax77puta OP Jan 11, 2020

Nopes it is called dev plan/dev list. It is kinda pre PIP and one can’t change teams internally during this. This happens every year.. I am surprised that you haven’t heard of this given that you are working at Amazon.

Amazon madhu7 Jan 12, 2020

I have heard of it but the term is not used anymore from the HR side. That's what I wanted to mean.

Amazon iceeu Jan 11, 2020

No dev list is before PIP. If you’re on dev list, manager is using that period to monitor your work closely and see if you can improve. If not, you will be put on PIP which is a formal process involving HR.

3 years at Amazon and still wanted to come back, that's amazing
