I am trying to understand how FAANG recruiters evaluate years of experience. I am SDE and have worked in two countries so far. I have 5yoe in Eastern Europe (2yoe as FTE, while still in university and 3yoe after graduation), also I have 3yoe in Australia. All this while working for shit tier companies. Now I am joining one of the FAANGs here in AU and I am considering moving to US in 2 years. I am wondering how FAANGs factor yoe while calcualting TC and level? Will all of my experience be counted? Do they ignore yoe while studying? Do they have bias against overseas exp if it is not from English-speaking country? What they think about Australian, Canadian exp?
I think, some HRs are biased and value US exp more than other. But interviewer should be agnostic
All of your experience will be counted. Your experience while studying may be devalued depending on what it was but that’s about the job and not about the study.

You need to value your overseas experience by yourself, not others. I made the mistake before. There is no prove on why us experience shall be more valuable.
