Does working for Google still carry prestige?

I’m seeing a LOT of folks joining Google recently, and wondering if they are “lowering the bar” due to growth. I know this statement makes me sound like a certified a-hole, but I’m only asking because I want to apply again, and hoping my chances are better. Desperate I know. #GoogleFan TC: $165k

Anyone can get into Google if they grind LC enough, there's no prestige anymore imo and I think others know it.

Isn’t that same with every company tho lol

Agreed. I interviewed with Google twice with 3 years gap between both interviews. My first interview was far more difficult and felt challenged. Second interview was on par with Microsoft interview level, which is not really tough.

It still impresses people at parties if that’s what you’re asking edit: outside the Bay Area

If google is not prestigious in tech, then what is? Facebook/amazon hire even more rapidly.

In tech, I think Google stills carries a lot of prestige. In finance, maybe Renaissance Technologies.

The prestigious company to go for right now is stripe.

Cruise Automation C++.. Feb 24, 2020

Stripe is similar to Uber or Dropbox few years ago.

What prestige? Where can I find them prestige?

Google Tres Coma$ Feb 24, 2020

All I care about is TC and interesting work. Who cares about "prestige" lol

Amazon 1.3 acres Feb 24, 2020

prestige can bring you interesting work and tc tho

Amazon qubes Feb 25, 2020

Nah man. Prestige is just for outside people. Doesn't make any difference in your day 2 day life. I wouldn't sweat it *just* for what people think of me. It's a great company, but prestige is a big word.

Having Google on your resume still gets you past heaps of resume filters

Yeah but so does any other “fang” company.
